Thaitsuki Wakizashi Swords
The roots of the wakizashi sword can be traced back to Japan. The samurai swordsmen of feudal Japan would commonly pair the wakizashi sword with the larger katana. This blade, which is shorter in length than a katana, was often known as a "companion" sword. The term was originally used to designate any sword worn alongside a main sword, but it soon became associated with a sword with a shorter blade. The Thaitsuki wakizashi is the perfect sword for those in search of a shorter blade or a companion to their Thaitsui Katana.
The purpose of the wakizashi sword was most commonly as a backup to the katana originally. The samurai of Japan may have used the blade in ritual suicide as well. At Blade Center we carry Thaitsuki wakizashi swords as well as katanas. There are two types of Thaitsuki wakizashi swords available, the Maru and Sanmai blades. The Thaitsuki Maru line of swords is forged entirely of high carbon steel while the Sanmai series uses folded steel for increased durability.
The elegant designs of these Thaitsuki Nihonto swords reflect the incredible craftsmanship that goes into each blade. These are authentic samurai swords that have been forged with traditional methods and come with a certificate of authenticity. Each Thaitsuki sword is handmade, making no two swords exactly alike.
